Berend Hendriks was a Dutch post WWII artist who produced monumental mosaics on public building such as churches and schools throughout the Netherlands. Recently, an unknown mosaic of his was discovered in the Beatrix school in Hilversum, depicting Jacob's dream in a war-setting. This article offers an overview of Hendrik's work and places the Jacob mosaic within the oeuvre of Berend Hendriks. The article is in English.

A recurrent theme in the Hebrew Bible is brotherly animosity. Cain and Abel, Jacob and Esau, and Solomon and Adonijah are but a few examples.
